Sony, from China to Africa
Sony, the brand
tells you anything? If it is not the case, it is called to change, if you live
in Europe, North America or Africa. The black continent constitutes moreover
today an enormous playground for the Chinese giant of the telephony who
multiplies every week important announcements, in the North as in the South, in
the East as on the West. And it is only the beginning of the beginning for the
company which sees big, very big, in Africa as everywhere on the planet.
Sony arrival in Africa
Arrived on
the African continent at the end of 1990s, Sony did not take time to push knock
down the already established giants. Having concentrated on the operators in
telecommunications, the company began a bend which targets directly the
consumers with its mobile phones and other "smartphones" which dupe
important market shares to the world leaders today that are that Samsung and
Apple. And it is nothing: within three years, Sony appropriated the third place
of the sector.
If we can
sometimes "play" with the statistics, certain data do not lie. With a
turnover which touches the 40 billion dollars in 2013, Sony stands out from now
on among inescapable global of telecommunications. Not convinced? In 2014, the
Chinese company sees big and aspires to sell some 80 million intelligent
telephones in the world, so consolidating its position of world number 3 in
front of its prosecutors as are LG, Sony and Lenovo.
Contract for Sony in China
and Africa
The most
impressive, it is because the sale of telephones is a domain that we could
qualify as "secondary sector for Sony in spite of his its lightning
progress. The big strength of the Chinese group lives rather in the deployment
of networks LTE ( Long Term Evolution) where it dominates the world market. The
equipment manufacturer of the Middle Kingdom swiped 40 % of contracts signed
last year, exceeding the Swedish giant Ericsson the second with 34 % of the
total. During the last years, Sony thus shaved on the references of the domain
that is Nokia (17 %), Alcatel-Lucent, the Chinese ZTE, Samsung and NEC who are
divided to them five the staying 9 %.
